Options From Zenith Aircraft
Based on customer requests, Zenith Aircraft has developed a number of “Options” with which builders can customize their personal aircraft. Some of these options can be retro-fitted after the aircraft has been finished; others need to be installed during the initial construction. Make sure you understand the full ramifications of customizing your aircraft with these options – almost all add weight, cost and complexity to the building process; aircraft specifications and performances may also be affected.
Zodiac CH 650 Options
Options includes: LED Nav/Strobe/Position Light Kit, Landing Light Kit, Upholstery Kit, Long Range Fuel Tanks, Dual Control Sticks Option, Aileron Trim Tab Option, Wing Baggage Locker Kit, Wheel Fairings Kit, Tow-Bar Kit, Tail-Wheel Gear Configuration).

Factory-Swaged Control Cables Kit P/N: 650-FSCC
Go away with nico-press sleeves & thimbles – or the need for four hands in restricted space to keep everything tight and lined-up while squeezing a tricky or oversized nico-press tool… These cable sets are pre-stretched, pre-cut and pre-swaged with aircraft-quality cable ends – all turn-buckle components included!
Go for the professional look – includes safety clips (no need for safety wire)…
Includes both rudder cables, both elevator cables and all 3 aileron cables for the CH 650.

Steering-Rod Slot-Covers (Retro-fit kit) P/N: SRSC
These galvanized steel slot-covers are easy to install on the engine side of the firewall to help block outside air from entering the cabin. These covers were a standard feature in the CH 601XL S-LSA and are now standard in new CH 650/750 kits (see drwgs) as well as Zenair’s QBK fuselages.
Option fits both the Zodiac and STOL series.

Map Box Option (P/N: 650-MBO)
This map box kit mounts between the seats on top of the center arm rest. It raises the arm rest (with custom-padding) for added arm support and pilot comfort. Kit includes hardware and latch.
Note: Extra upholstery material supplied with the Zenith Aircraft Upholstery kits can be used to cover the Map box to further enhance cabin appearance.

Grove Gear Fittings (P/N: 6-N2-2)
These welded steel adapter fittings allow for the installation of the narrower Grove spring gear onto the standard main gear attachment points of the CH 601 XL / CH 650.

This air intake box brings fresh air to the carburetors (for max. HP) and also warm air when needed – carb heat (for icing conditions and where required by regulations).
Cable Adjuster Sleeves for Throttle & Choke Cables
Threaded end of Cable Adjuster is positioned into the cable support bracket; throttle cable housing is then inserted into the 1-1/2″ tube – to ensure the cable will slide straight through (without bending); tube is then squeezed to lock-in the housing (Ref. Drwg. 6-UL-23 & photo-guides). Available in two sizes:

Nose Gear Rubber Puck Suspension System
This system is now provided as standard equipment in all new CH 650 kits. Owners of older CH 650 Aircraft (with a bungee chord system) may upgrade their aircraft with this option. Note: This new “Puck” system will require a new nose gear strut (or modifications to the old one).
Caution: if wanting to use this system in a CH 601 (HD/HDS/UL/XL), additional changes may be required to the firewall and to the “top tray” depending on the model. Builders will have to obtain CH 650 Firewall drawing and may have to make/install new parts for Puck-System to fit. Modification & installation instructions for these older models are NOT available from Zenair.

Four-Point Seat-Belt Option (75-FPHO)
This option provides all brackets and fittings necessary to install a four-point harness system, for pilot and passenger, in a CH 750 STOL or CRUZER.

Dual Friction Throttle Option (P/N: R912S-DTR)
Dual throttles are NOT a standard feature with all Zenith Aircraft FWF Packages. This add-on kit provides for a second panel-mounted throttle control when a standard FWF package set-up only provides for one (i.e. R912S-FWF).

Allows pilot and passenger seats to slide forward and back, individually. The heavy-duty rails for this convenient option are stainless steel; the entire option adds 10 lbs. to the aircraft. Factory Options for the STOL CH 801 aircraft are only available through Zenith Aircraft. Composite Parts - All Models
Individual Fiberglass and Plastic parts and fairings are also available from Zenith Aircraft. Engine cowls, wing tips, wheel-fairings, etc. are traditionally made of fiberglass on most Zenair designs. Today, we also regularly use vacuum-formed plastics. These parts are typically included in the various airframe kits, but can also be purchased separately for repairs, or by builders constructing their Zenair aircraft from plans-only (“scratch-builders”). Follow the standard procedure to order.
